I have an M.Ed. in Elementary Education from DePaul University. I have worked as a teacher in schools around Chicagoland. I am currently working as a substitute teacher both at North Shore and in the Chicago Public School system.
This will be my 8th summer at camp. I began in 2003 as lifeguard, and over the years I have taken on the responsibility of managing the after camp swim program. Last year I became the Pool Director and I will return in that position this summer.
I love working at North Shore Country Day School with the camp program because I love being part of a program that children truly enjoy. As an educator, I recognize that camp is another opportunity for kids to learn and grow, all while having tons of fun! Providing children the opportunity to explore new and exciting activities in a safe, supportive, and enjoyable environment is why I keep returning as a staff member year after year.
Because I have worked with the swim program for so many years, my favorite aspect of camp is seeing the campers master swimming. I have now known campers long enough that I can remember when they would barely get their toes wet, and now they’re swimming the butterfly in the deep end! The look of satisfaction on a camper’s face when he or she finally dunks their head underwater for the first time, or when they reach our highest swimming level, is priceless.
